Head Operations

The Head of Operations will provide strategic and operational leadership across all brokerage operations, ensuring regulatory excellence, operational resilience, and scalability. This role demands deep expertise in capital market operations, regulatory frameworks, risk management, and large-team leadership, with accountability for compliance, audits, settlement integrity, and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Operations Leadership

• Own and govern end-to-end operations across Equity, Derivatives, Currency, Commodities, DP, Clearing & Settlement
• Define long-term operational strategy aligned with business growth and regulatory evolution
• Act as principal operations advisor to the Board and senior leadership

2. Regulatory Governance & Compliance Oversight

• Ensure full compliance with SEBI, NSE, BSE, MCX, CDSL, NSDL, Clearing Corporations, and related regulators
• Serve as primary point of contact for regulators, exchanges, and auditors
• Oversee exchange inspections, SEBI audits, system audits, cyber audits, and forensic audits
• Interpret regulatory circulars and drive firm-wide implementation

3. Risk Management & Controls

• Establish enterprise-level operational risk framework and control mechanisms
• Oversee RMS, margin management, client exposure, and settlement risk
• Ensure prevention of operational failures, fraud, and regulatory breaches
• Chair internal risk, compliance, and operational review committees

4. Process Excellence & Digital Transformation

• Lead large-scale process optimization and automation initiatives
• Drive technology upgrades across OMS, RMS, DP, back-office, and reporting systems
• Ensure operational readiness for new products, platforms, and regulatory mandates
• Implement best-in-class SOPs, controls, and disaster recovery frameworks

5. Leadership & Talent Management

• Lead multi-location, multi-functional teams including operations, DP, settlements, compliance support, and RMS
• Mentor senior managers and build succession pipelines
• Define governance structures, KPIs, and accountability frameworks

6. Client, Vendor & Stakeholder Management

• Oversee resolution of high-impact client escalations and operational disputes
• Manage relationships with banks, depositories, exchanges, clearing members, custodians, and technology vendors
• Support institutional, HNI, and strategic client operations

7. Business & Growth Enablement

• Enable business expansion through scalable, compliant operations
• Support launch of new segments, products, branches, and digital initiatives
• Provide operational MIS, risk dashboards, and strategic insights to leadership

Key Skills & Expertise

• Deep, hands-on knowledge of Indian capital markets and stock broking operations
• Expert understanding of SEBI regulations, exchange bylaws, DP rules, and audit frameworks
• Strong command over RMS, margining, settlement cycles, and client asset protection
• Proven experience managing large teams and complex operations
• Strategic thinker with strong governance, decision-making, and crisis management skills
• High integrity, accountability, and regulatory credibility

Educational Qualifications

• Graduate/Postgraduate in Commerce, Finance, Economics, or Management
• NISM Certifications (Operations, Compliance, DP modules mandatory/preferred)
• Additional professional certifications (CA / MBA / CFA) preferred

Experience Profile

• 15 to 20+ years

  in stock broking / capital market operations
• Extensive exposure to exchange inspections, SEBI audits, and regulatory interactions
• Experience with both full-service and/or large discount broking setups preferred
