Head of Environment, Health, and Safety

As the Assistant General Manager/Deputy General Manager for Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) at Baldota Steel and Power Limited (BSPL), you will play a critical role in overseeing health, safety, and environmental aspects throughout the execution and commissioning phases of the Greenfield Integrated Steel Plant project. Your main responsibility will be to ensure a safe working environment and cultivate a proactive safety culture during the project lifecycle. - Lead and manage the HSE function for the Greenfield Integrated Steel Plant (>1.0 MTPA) from concept to commissioning - Develop, implement, and monitor HSE strategies, plans, and programs aligned with project objectives and regulatory requirements - Establish Safety Committees, offer guidance on safety initiatives, conduct training programs, and awareness sessions for employees and contractors - Conduct job safety analyses, identify hazards, assess risks for project activities - Perform regular safety inspections, ensure compliance with standards, recommend corrective actions - Investigate incidents, accidents, root causes, implement preventive measures, maintain safety performance records Collaboration with procurement and stores teams to ensure availability of high-quality Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety gear is crucial. Leading safety campaigns, contests, and engagement activities to nurture a strong safety culture among all stakeholders on-site will also be part of your responsibilities. Providing guidance to project and construction teams on adopting and maintaining best practices in occupational health and safety is essential for project success. Your candidate profile should demonstrate proven experience in handling HSE functions in a Greenfield Integrated Steel Plant project (>1.0 MTPA), focusing on project safety management during construction and commissioning phases. An in-depth understanding of steel plant construction hazards and control measures, ability to influence safety culture, strong leadership, analytical, and communication skills are necessary.
