Leadership Opportunity as Head Land Aquisition

At Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest producer of the Metal of the Future, we aim to become the global best in our business, which spans the worlds’ largest smelters, mines, alumina refinery power plants and port. We operate a 3.5 MTPA (million tonnes per annum) capacity alumina refinery in Lanjigarh (Kalahandi district, Odisha) and an associated 140 MW captive power plant. This refinery is on a growth trajectory and poised to expand to 5MTPA (million tonnes per annum) by FY26 and subsequently to 6 MTPA (million tonnes per annum), making it the world’s largest and best in class refinery.


Roles & Responsibilities:


  • Accountable for acquisition of private land & government land under the relevant acts, guidelines, and provisions.
  • Facilitate for approval forest diversion proposal if any under FC Act and FRA Act.
  • Preparation of transfer deeds, agreements, survey report, and facilitating for land registration.
  • To resolve the existing land issues within the purview of land laws in co-ordination with legal department.
  • Anchoring all land related matters and strategize them to promote and protect the company interest.
  • Liaisoning for various approvals, permissions, consents, agreements, and legal certificates related to land laws.
  • Dealing with all statutory and authorized bodies like Tahsildar, Revenue Officers, LAO etc and other government bodies for land related compliances.


Embracing cutting-edge Technology, Digitalization, Innovation and Benchmarking with global best practices, Governance & Compliance will be the key success factors.


The Successful Applicant:


  • Any graduate with more than 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Candidate with law background will be preferred.
  • Should be conversant with RFCTLARR Act 2013 and R&R policy, GoO.
  • Should be conversant with Land Acquisition acts and has exposure on handling land & rehabilitation matters.
  • Proficient in stakeholder Management & active liaisoning.
  • Fluency in Odia language (written & spoken) will be an added advantage.
