GIS Analyst

The GIS Analyst is responsible for analyzing spatial data, creating maps, and generating geospatial insights to support engineering, planning, and environmental projects. This role involves processing, interpreting, and managing geospatial datasets from various sources, including LiDAR, satellite imagery, UAV surveys, and field data. The GIS Analyst ensures data accuracy, consistency, and compliance with organizational and client standards while delivering high-quality geospatial products.

The responsibilities include processing, analyzing, and managing spatial datasets using GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro, QGIS, and Global Mapper. The analyst prepares, updates, and maintains GIS databases, metadata, and map layers for ongoing projects while generating thematic, topographic, cadastral, and infrastructure maps as per project specifications. The role also involves supporting LiDAR and remote sensing data integration for terrain modeling, powerline mapping, and environmental analysis. The GIS Analyst conducts spatial analyses such as buffer, overlay, proximity, and network analysis to aid project planning and decision-making. Additionally, the analyst performs coordinate transformations, georeferencing, and projection management of spatial data, ensuring accuracy, quality control, and standardization of all GIS outputs.

Collaboration with engineers, planners, and field teams is essential to validate spatial data and integrate findings into project workflows. The GIS Analyst may also develop and automate GIS workflows using tools such as Python or ModelBuilder to enhance efficiency. Furthermore, the role includes preparing project deliverables—such as maps, shapefiles, geodatabases, and analytical reports—for submission to clients or internal use, ensuring timely and precise delivery in accordance with project standards.
