We deliver comprehensive on‑site general surgery care across elective, emergency, and critical perioperative pathways for adult and pediatric patients in India. This role suits a technically strong, patient‑focused surgeon who thrives in a high‑volume clinical environment and contributes to quality, safety, and training outcomes.Role & Responsibilities
- Deliver high‑quality perioperative care: evaluate, plan, and execute elective and emergency general surgical procedures with clear informed consent and risk management.
- Perform a broad range of operative interventions including laparoscopic and open abdominal surgeries, emergency exploratory laparotomies, trauma procedures, and relevant oncologic resections.
- Provide acute surgical on‑call coverage, stabilise critically ill patients, coordinate resuscitation, and lead multidisciplinary trauma responses when required.
- Manage postoperative care and complications: ICU/ward coordination, analgesia plans, drain/wound management, and escalate appropriately to critical care teams.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, participate in morbidity & mortality reviews, implement infection control and surgical safety checklists, and adhere to clinical governance standards.
- Mentor and supervise junior surgeons, residents and nursing staff; support continuous learning, audits, and protocol development to improve surgical outcomes.
Skills & Qualifications
Must‑Have
- MBBS with MS/DNB in General Surgery or equivalent recognised postgraduate qualification.
- Proven clinical competence in laparoscopic and open general surgical procedures and emergency operative management.
- Demonstrated experience managing perioperative critical care and postoperative complications in an acute hospital setting.
- Certifications: ATLS and ACLS/BLS (current) or willingness to obtain promptly.
- Strong familiarity with surgical safety protocols, infection control, and perioperative documentation standards.
- Ability to work on‑site in India with flexible on‑call commitments and effective multidisciplinary collaboration.
Preferred
- Fellowship or focused experience in minimal access (laparoscopic) surgery or surgical oncology.
- Experience in high‑volume tertiary care settings, trauma centres, or teaching hospitals with resident supervision.
