Furniture Designer

Role Overview

We are looking for a Furniture & Light Designer

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Design & Development

• Conceptualize and design furniture pieces

sketches, CAD drawings, 3D models

moodboards, material boards

• Ensure every product reflects the brand’s language: modern, culturally inspired, and globally relevant.

2. Prototyping & Technical Detailing

• Build detailed technical drawings, renderings, and manufacturing-ready blueprints

convert concepts into prototypes

• Conduct material testing, structural checks, and quality reviews.

3. Vendor Coordination & Production Oversight

• Work with wood, metal, upholstery, ceramic, and lighting vendors

• Ensure correct implementation of finishes, joineries, wiring standards, safety norms, and quality.

• Travel to factories/workshops when needed for QC and approvals.

• Maintain BOMs (Bill of Materials), production timelines, and cost sheets.

4. Collaboration with Internal Teams

• Work closely with interior stylists, sourcing teams, and the private-label product team.

• Support Studio December’s B2B styling and sourcing projects with custom designs.

• Coordinate with brand, content, and photo teams for launch assets and storytelling.

5. Research & Innovation

• Stay updated on global furniture & lighting trends

• Introduce new ideas: modular systems, sustainable materials, Indian craftsmanship reinterpretations, experimental finishes, LED innovations, etc.

Key Skills & Competencies

• Proven experience in furniture design or lighting design

AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, Fusion 360, or SolidWorks

• Ability to multitask, manage timelines, and work across multiple projects.

Experience & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s/Master’s in Furniture Design / Product Design / Industrial Design

• 2–6 years of relevant experience (flexible depending on portfolio strength).
