Frontend GIS Developer

Key Responsibilities:

• GIS Frontend Development:

• Design and develop responsive and user-friendly web interfaces for GIS applications using

  JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js)

• Integrate and visualize geospatial data using leading GIS libraries such as

  OpenLayers, Leaflet, Mapbox GL JS, or Esri ArcGIS API for JavaScript

  .
• Implement interactive mapping functionalities including pan, zoom, layer toggling, feature identification, spatial analysis tools, and custom symbology.
• Develop and integrate reusable UI components for maps and geospatial data displays.

• API Integration & Data Handling:

• Consume and integrate data from various

  geospatial services (e.g., WMS, WFS, GeoJSON, KML, Esri REST services)

• Work closely with backend GIS developers to define and integrate RESTful APIs for spatial data.
• Handle large datasets efficiently, ensuring optimal performance and responsiveness of map interactions.

• Code Quality & Best Practices:

• Write clean, modular, well-documented, and efficient code following industry best practices and coding standards.
• Perform unit and integration testing to ensure reliability and robustness of frontend GIS components.
• Actively participate in code reviews, providing constructive feedback to maintain high code quality.

• Collaboration & User Experience:

• Collaborate with UI/UX designers, backend developers, product managers, and GIS specialists to understand requirements and translate them into effective geospatial solutions.
• Ensure cross-browser compatibility and optimize applications for maximum speed and scalability on various devices.
• Gather user feedback and iterate on designs to enhance usability and overall user experience.

• Troubleshooting & Maintenance:

• Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to map rendering, data display, and frontend application performance.
• Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of existing GIS web applications.
