Job Description

Founding Hardware Engineer

Success in this role looks like:

  • Delivering high-quality hardware from concept to production
  • Making strong architectural decisions for long-term product scalability
  • Collaborating with firmware, mechanical, and manufacturing teams
  • Building efficient, cost-optimized, and rugged designs suitable for high-volume manufacture

As an early team member, you will play a critical role in shaping our hardware direction and influencing the technical foundation of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end hardware development: requirements, schematics, PCB layout, prototyping, testing, and manufacturing support.
  • Architect embedded systems using MCUs/SoCs (nRF52/nRF53, STM32, ESP32, NXP, TI).
  • Determine hardware requirements and develop reliable, manufacturable solutions for products in production.
  • Design and tune RF systems including BLE, Wi-Fi, and 2.4 GHz radios; perform antenna matching and range optimization.
  • Integrate UWB modules for precision ranging and wireless positioning.
  • Design BLDC motor driver circuits, MOSFET stages, current sensing, and safety systems.
  • Work on low-power and battery-powered designs (Li-ion/LiFePO4).
  • Build efficient power architectures, DC-DC converters, filtering, and EMI/EMC mitigation.
  • Develop hardware suitable for outdoor/industrial environments (IP-rated enclosures, thermal robustness, shock/vibration).
  • Support CE/FCC certification and ensure EMC/EMI compliance.
  • Lead board bring-up, debugging, RF validation, and performance testing.
  • Build test jigs, fixtures, and contribute to production QA processes.
  • Collaborate with manufacturers on DFM/DFT, yield improvements, and production line setup.

Qualifications

  • 3–4 years

of experience in embedded hardware engineering.
  • Strong understanding of RF design, antennas, matching networks, and EMI/EMC principles.
  • Experience designing motor control systems (BLDC drivers, sensing, safety).
  • Proficiency in PCB design tools such as Altium, KiCad, or OrCAD.
  • Hands-on experience with test and measurement tools (oscilloscopes, VNAs, spectrum analyzers).
  • Ability to analyze hardware problems, debug efficiently, and deliver reliable solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership of projects, and collaborate across teams.
  • Experience bringing hardware products from prototype to production (preferred but not required).
