Forensic Accountant

Job Summary:

• A Forensic Accountant investigates financial data to uncover fraud, embezzlement, or other financial misconduct.
• This role combines accounting, auditing, and investigative skills to analyze records, trace assets, and provide clear, documented findings for use in legal proceedings.
• Forensic Accountants often collaborate with law enforcement, attorneys, and regulatory agencies and may serve as expert witnesses in court.

Key Responsibilities:

• Examine financial statements, transactions, and records to identify discrepancies or irregularities.
• Conduct investigations into suspected fraud, corruption, or financial mismanagement.
• Trace funds and assets through detailed analysis of accounting and banking records.
• Prepare clear, detailed reports of findings for management, legal teams, or regulatory bodies.
• Provide expert testimony and explain complex financial matters in court.
• Work closely with law enforcement, auditors, and attorneys during investigations.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and accounting standards.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CFE, or CAMS preferred).
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, auditing techniques, and investigative procedures.
• Proficiency in financial analysis tools and forensic accounting software.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention-to-detail skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present findings clearly.
• Integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism in handling sensitive information.

Work Environment:

• Forensic Accountants may work in public accounting firms, law enforcement agencies, corporations, or government entities.
• Work often involves reviewing large volumes of data and occasionally requires travel for investigations or court appearances.
