Financial Controller

As the Financial Controller for the COO function at Lloyds Register in Mumbai, India, you play a crucial role in the Maritime Finance Organisation. Your primary responsibility is to ensure the timely and accurate reporting of actual financial performance to enable effective evaluation against budget, forecasts, and prior year results. You are expected to identify, communicate, and address risks and issues as they arise. Key Responsibilities: - Accurately report monthly, quarterly, and annual performance for review by Business Finance according to set timetables. - Clearly and concisely explain material variances to Budget, latest forecast, and Prior Year figures. - Collaborate with Finance Shared Service Centre, Statutory Compliance and GL teams, and Business Managers to understand financial performance thoroughly. - Work with fellow controllers and the Head of Financial accounting to ensure adherence to common processes and templates. - Provide timely responses to queries from Maritime Finance and management regarding financial performance. - Act as a bridge between Maritime Finance, Statutory Compliance and GL teams, and Finance Shared Service Centre to resolve reporting and process issues. - Review and understand the Balance Sheet, communicating risks and opportunities effectively to Maritime Finance in coordination with the GL team. - Lead responses to audit queries related to P&L and Balance Sheet movements, ensuring clarity and reflecting associated risks. Qualifications Required: - Degree qualified with a background in management accounting or commercial accounting. - Possess a recognized professional accountancy qualification (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with significant experience in an international finance function. - Trusted and credible resource for key stakeholders, able to build strong relationships. - Hands-on approach, visible across the business with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Enthusiastic team player who can establish and maintain strong relationships with business leaders and within the Finance community. - Demonstrated understanding of a strong control framework.
