Job Description

As a Finance Controller at Fueling Brains, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the finance team and managing all financial operations to support the organization's growth and success. You will have the opportunity to lead financial planning, analysis, compliance, risk management, and team development initiatives. Your expertise in financial leadership, strategic planning, and regulatory knowledge will be essential in driving operational efficiency and supporting decision-making processes. **Key Responsibilities:** - **Financial Leadership:** - Build and implement financial strategies and policies to support the organization's growth objectives. - **Financial Planning & Analysis:** - Conduct detailed financial analysis, forecasting, and budgeting to facilitate business decisions and enhance operational performance. - Review and improve internal controls and standard operating procedures for financial processes. - **Compliance and Risk Management:** - Ensure compliance with Canadian and US tax, legal, and regulatory requirements. - Manage internal and external audits, maintaining coordination with consultants and internal teams. - **Reporting & Communication:** - Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. - Prepare, review, and present consolidated financial statements, management reports, and key financial metrics to senior leadership. - **Cost Control & Efficiency:** - Identify opportunities to optimize accounting processes, systems, and turnaround times to drive operational efficiency. - **Team Development:** - Manage, mentor, and develop capabilities within the finance team. - Stay informed about financial and accounting best practices to enhance team performance. - **Budgeting and Forecasting:** - Lead the annual budget preparation and conduct periodic forecasts. - Collaborate with department heads to identify financial trends, variances, and business drivers. - Provide financial analysis and insights to support effective decision-making. **Qualifications:** - **Education:** - Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field. - CPA/CA qualification is mandatory. - **Experience:** - 8-10 years of experience in a senior finance leadership role. - Prior experience in North American finance, including managing multi-entity consolidations and currency translations. - **Skills:** - Proficiency in financial planning, budgeting, and financial analysis. - Strong knowledge of North American financial regulations and compliance. - Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a collaborative leadership approach. - Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Rippling (preferred), and advanced Excel. - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
