Job Description

Prepare and manage all import documentation including purchase orders, invoices, packing lists, bill of lading, certificate of origin, insurance documents, etc.
Coordinate with overseas suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and CHA for smooth cargo movement and timely clearance.
Ensure compliance with customs regulations, DGFT guidelines, and other applicable EXIM policies.
Track all import shipments and update internal teams to avoid delays in production or project timelines.
Assist in calculating import duties, taxes, and estimate landed costs for imported goods.
Apply for and manage Advance Authorizations, EPCG licenses, and other DGFT-related permissions as required.
Liaise with accounts and finance teams for timely payments, bank documentation, LC issuance, and remittances.
Maintain MIS reports related to import status, duties paid, shipment lead time, and other key metrics.
Support sourcing and procurement teams in identifying global suppliers and collecting competitive freight rates.
Resolve documentation issues, shipment delays, and any disputes related to import consignments.
Ensure timely closure of all post-clearance formalities and maintain complete records for audits.
Work closely with internal teams including purchase, finance, warehouse, and production for coordination.
Must have 25 years of experience in import operations, preferably in a manufacturing or building material company.
Strong understanding of INCOTERMS, customs clearance, and import documentation.
Proficient in MS Excel, email communication, and working knowledge of ERP systems.
Should be detail-oriented, process-driven, and capable of managing multiple shipments simultaneously.
