Here is a detailed job description for an English Teacher in a CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) school : Job Title: English Teacher (Primary/Middle/Secondary/Senior Secondary) Location: CBSE-Affiliated School Reports to: Academic Coordinator / Principal Job Summary: The English teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, curriculum-aligned instruction in English language and literature, fostering communication skills, critical thinking, and a love for reading and writing among students. The role involves planning, evaluating, and implementing educational content in line with CBSE standards. Key Responsibilities:Academic & Instructional Duties: Deliver English lessons as per the CBSE curriculum and school academic plan. Teach grammar, literature, writing, speaking, and listening skills appropriate to the grade level. Prepare and implement lesson plans, worksheets, activities, and assessments. Incorporate various teaching aids (audio-visual, ICT tools, etc.) to enhance learning outcomes. Foster a learning environment that encourages student participation and creativity. Use differentiated instruction to cater to varied student learning needs. Assessment & Evaluation: Design and evaluate formative and summative assessments. Maintain records of student progress, attendance, and behavior. Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and parents. Prepare students for internal and board examinations as applicable. Classroom & Behaviour Management: Maintain discipline and decorum in the classroom. Motivate students to develop good study habits and respect for others. Implement positive behavior strategies aligned with school policies. Professional Collaboration: Attend staff meetings, subject planning meetings, and school events. Collaborate with colleagues to plan integrated activities and interdisciplinary projects. Coordinate with parents during PTMs or whenever necessary. Co-curricular Involvement: Organize and participate in literary events such as debates, elocutions, drama, and storytelling. Support school initiatives such as language clubs, reading programs, and newsletters. Qualifications & Requirements: Educational Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in English or related field (mandatory) B.Ed. (Bachelor of Education – compulsory for CBSE schools) Master’s degree in English (preferred for senior classes) Experience: 1–5 years (Primary/Middle School); 5+ years (Secondary/Senior Secondary) Experience in CBSE-affiliated schools preferred Skills: Strong command over written and spoken English Familiarity with CBSE syllabus, NCERT textbooks, and assessment practices Classroom management and student engagement skills Technological proficiency (Smart Board, Google Classroom, MS Office, etc.) Desirable Traits: Creative and innovative approach to teaching Passionate about language and literature Ability to connect with students across age groups Commitment to professional development Let me know if you want this as an editable Word document or customized for Primary, Middle, or Senior Secondary levels .
