Engineer/Sr. Engineer(Service) - Seating System

A service engineer for railway seating systems is a mechanical or field service specialist responsible for the maintenance, repair, and installation of seats in train carriages. They ensure the safety, functionality, and comfort of seating for passengers and operators by inspecting and troubleshooting components, working on-site & collaborating with other railway personnel.

Role & responsibilities

• Inspection and maintenance: Conducting routine and scheduled maintenance, checks on seating systems to identify and resolve potential issues.
• This includes inspecting seat frames, cushions, upholstery, folding mechanisms, and other related components.
• Troubleshooting and repair: Diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults in seating systems and performing necessary repairs.
• Installation and upgrades.
• Quality and safety assurance.
• Documentation and reporting: Maintaining detailed records of all service activities, including maintenance logs, repair reports, and customer communications.
• Customer and team communication: Communicating with clients, train operators, and other engineers to address service requests, explain technical concepts, and coordinate work.
• On-site fieldwork: Traveling to different railway depots, workshops, and terminals to perform maintenance and repairs directly on the rolling stock.

Preferred candidate profile

• Candidate-- BE/ Diploma in Mech Engg with 5- 10 years of experience in Seating Systems preferably for Indian Railways.
• Travel- Candidate needs to travel for the PAN India locations
• Technical expertise: A strong understanding of mechanical systems,materials, and components is crucial for diagnosing issues in seating.
• Problem-solving abilities: Excellent diagnostic and analytical skills .
• Communication skills: The ability to explain technical issues.
