Job Description

Position - Energy Manager - Telecom Segment

The Energy Manager for the telecom segment is responsible for developing and executing strategies that reduce energy consumption, optimize power infrastructure, and ensure cost-effective, reliable energy supply for telecom networks, towers, and related facilities. This role bridges technical engineering, operations, and sustainability functions to improve energy efficiency across large distributed telecom assets.

Key Responsibilities

1. Power Infrastructure Management

  • Evaluate and optimize energy systems including grid connections, DG sets, hybrid power systems, rectifiers, UPS, batteries (Li-Ion/VRLA), solar PV, and cooling systems.
  • Assess site-level power configurations and ensure compliance with telecom and electrical standards.
  • Oversee energy-related CAPEX/OPEX planning and budget tracking.

2. Operational Efficiency & Cost Optimization

  • Reduce energy OPEX through efficiency programs, intelligent controllers, smart meters, remote monitoring, and automation.
  • Lead energy audits across telecom locations; identify and implement corrective actions.
  • Optimize diesel consumption, battery charging cycles, and active/passive equipment loads.

3. Monitoring & Data Analytics

  • Analyze energy KPIs: PUE, site uptime, DG run hours, energy cost per tenant, per-site energy consumption, etc.
  • Implement digital energy management systems (EMS), IoT sensors, and energy dashboards.
  • Track performance of renewable and hybrid power solutions.

4. Vendor & Stakeholder Management

  • Work with power equipment vendors, tower companies, utilities, and energy service providers.
  • Evaluate new technologies (high-efficiency rectifiers, Li-Ion batteries, free cooling units, solar solutions).
  • Manage utility agreements, tariff optimization, and billing disputes.

5. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure telecom sites comply with electrical safety regulations and energy standards.
  • Maintain documentation of energy systems, power backup plans, and risk assessments.

  • Bachelor s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5-10+ years of energy management experience, ideally in telecom, tower operations.
  • Strong understanding of telecom power systems
  • Knowledge of utility tariffs, renewable energy, and energy-efficiency technologies.
