Panel Designer – Requirements
1. Education and Experience:Formal Education:A bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is typically required. Experience:Several years of experience in electrical panel design, installation, or related roles is essential. Specialized Knowledge:Experience with specific types of panels (e.g., MCC, PCC, PLC-based) is often sought. 2. Technical Skills:Design Software:Proficiency in electrical CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, EPLAN, or similar) for creating schematics and panel layouts. Solid works, sheet metal drawings.Electrical Codes and Standards:In-depth knowledge of relevant electrical codes (e.g., IEC 61439, NEC) and safety regulations. Component Selection:Ability to select appropriate electrical components based on application requirements and specifications. Layout Design:Skill in creating efficient and safe panel layouts, considering factors like space management, thermal management, and accessibility. Troubleshooting:Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills to identify and resolve design issues. Documentation:Ability to create comprehensive documentation, including schematics, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and installation instructions. Testing and Quality Control:Understanding of testing procedures and quality control measures for ensuring panel functionality and safety. 3. Soft Skills:Communication: Excellent communication skills to collaborate with other engineers, technicians, and clients. Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a design team. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address design challenges. Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail to ensure accuracy in designs and documentation. 4.
