Job Description

Key Responsibilities:Student Support and Guidance: Provide academic, career, and personal counseling to students. Help students identify their strengths, interests, and academic goals. Offer advice on course selection, academic paths, and extracurricular activities. Provide emotional support and help students manage stress, anxiety, and other personal challenges. Career Counseling: Assist students with career exploration, goal setting, and job readiness. Provide guidance on college applications, internships, scholarships, and post-graduation plans. Help students understand job market trends, required skills, and career pathways. Organize career fairs, job shadowing, and networking opportunities. Academic Planning: Guide students in creating personalized academic plans based on their strengths and interests. Ensure students are aware of academic requirements and deadlines. Collaborate with teachers and faculty to track student performance and identify any issues. Mental and Emotional Well-Being: Be a first point of contact for students facing emotional or mental health concerns. Offer coping strategies for stress, depression, and anxiety. Refer students to specialized counseling or therapy if necessary. Parent and Teacher Collaboration: Communicate with parents about their child's academic performance and emotional well-being. Attend parent-teacher meetings to discuss student progress and provide support strategies. Work with teachers to monitor and support students who may need additional assistance. Workshops and Seminars: Organize and conduct workshops on study skills, time management, test-taking strategies, and personal development. Provide seminars on stress management, goal setting, and life skills development. Record Keeping and Reporting: Maintain accurate and confidential records of student progress, meetings, and counseling sessions. Prepare reports and feedback for school leadership regarding student well-being and development. Program Development: Develop and implement guidance programs aimed at improving student outcomes. Continuously assess and improve counseling services to better meet student needs. Skills & Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field. Experience: 1 + years in student counseling, academic advising, or related roles (experience in a school or university setting is often preferred). Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Active listening and empathy. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Knowledge of educational systems, academic requirements, and career development. Experience with crisis management and conflict resolution.
