Dimensional Management Engineer

Job Title: Dimensional Management Engineer

Education Requirements: Bachelors/ master's in mechanical/ Automobile/ Industrial Engineering

Description: We are looking for Dimensional Management Engineers who have 3-6 years' experience in the automobile industry, in Body in White domain & Exterior/ Interior to work on end-to-end dimensional management process for Mercedes Benz Body in White during the product development phase until SOP including defining tolerance specification, creating gap & flush plans, defining tolerance concepts and validating concepts through digital tolerance simulation

Roles & Responsibilities:

1. Define measurement system, locator strategy & tolerance specification for Body in White components and exterior trims in line with styling and manufacturing requirements

2. Ensure robustness of measurement system from part fabrication to complete BiW

3. Analyze the functional requirements of Body in White and create measurement strategy for the fitment of modules

4. Discuss and align tolerance concepts with stake holders

5. Perform tolerance stack up study 1D, 2D, or 3D during development phase to identify potential risk in production and provide solutions in terms of measurement strategy, alignment strategy, tolerance specification, assembly sequence or/ and design

6. Execute tolerance simulation in 3DCS to replicate the production process digitally, usage of correct probability distribution in relation to manufacturing process and validate the robustness of the concept

7. Ensure quality and timelines of every delivery in the project.

8. Create Gap & Flush plans & concepts to ensure visual quality of the vehicle

9. Discussion with cross functional teams (CFT) for incorporating feedback and providing solutions

10. Create and align sub module integration concept to ensure fitment and fulfil the production planning requirement.

11. Create and align closures integration concept in line with gap & flush plan to fulfill the requirements

Qualification

1. Good understanding about usage of 3D tolerance simulation tool. 3DCS preferred

2. Deep understanding about GD&T and SPC

3. Understanding about perceived quality

4. Understanding about manufacturing process in Body in White

5. Understanding about assembly operations in automobiles

6. Understanding of different measurement systems and inspection methods

7. Working proficiency in NX

8. Good team player

9. Good communication skills

10. Agility to work on different architectures in a fast-paced environment
