Development Engineer / DRE (Manual Transmission (Gears & Shafts))

design, development, and validation of gears and shafts

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead

  design and development of gears and shafts

  for manual transmission systems.
• Release

  prototype and production-intent designs

  in compliance with best practices, functional requirements, assembly, and serviceability considerations.
• Collaborate with component leaders/DREs for design detailing, validation, and technical reviews.
• Participate and lead

  Monozukuri and VAVE workshops

  to achieve cost and value targets.
• Drive

  localization and product development activities

  from RFQ to start of production.
• Validate component specifications and ensure consistency across all project phases.
• Coordinate and lead

  task forces

  during technical or production-related crises.
• Support program teams to achieve project milestones, cost, and timing goals.
• Define and manage

  component and system-level validation requirements

  .
• Communicate design risks, changes, and technical impacts to cross-functional teams such as

  Purchasing, Quality, Project, and Manufacturing

  .
• Conduct

  supplier technical reviews

  in collaboration with cross-functional stakeholders.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Bachelors/Masters degree

  in Mechanical or Automotive Engineering.

• 10+ years

  of experience in

  Manual Transmission design and development

  , with specialization in

  Gears & Shaft subsystems

  .
• Strong understanding of

  gear geometry (Spur & Helical)

  and

  rotating component design

  .
• Hands-on experience in

  detailing, tolerancing, and stack-up analysis

  .
• Sound knowledge of

  gear and shaft manufacturing processes

  (gear cutting, finishing, straightening, shot peening, etc.).
• Good understanding of

  materials, heat treatment

  , and

  APQP processes

  .
• Proficiency in

  UG (NX), Teamcenter, Romex, and KissSoft

  tools.
• Excellent

  communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills

  .
