Desktop Support Engineer

A Desktop Support Engineer provides technical help for hardware/software issues, ensuring smooth IT operations by installing, configuring, and troubleshooting systems (desktops, laptops, mobile devices, networks, printers) for employees, handling tickets, managing inventory, and training users, working onsite or remotely to resolve issues efficiently. Key Responsibilities

• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues via phone, email, remote access, or in-person.
• Installation & Configuration: Set up new computers, install software, configure peripherals, and manage user access.
• User Support: Assist employees with daily tech problems, provide orientation for new hires, and train on new tools.
• Maintenance: Perform system upgrades, security updates, and maintain IT infrastructure (servers, networks).
• Inventory & Asset Management: Track hardware, software licenses, and manage procurement.
• Documentation: Log tickets, document solutions, and update IT policies.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

• Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Windows/macOS/Linux, hardware, networking (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP), Active Directory, and common business software.
• Problem-Solving: Excellent diagnostic and critical thinking skills to find root causes.
• Communication: Clear verbal and written skills for user interaction.
• Customer Service: Professional, patient, and courteous demeanor.
• Experience: Hands-on experience in technical support roles.

Typical Work Environment

• Full-time, often Monday-Friday, with potential overtime for emergencies.
• Mix of desk work, remote support, and onsite visits.
