Design Engineer - AutoCAD Electrical

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed electrical designs and drawings using AutoCAD Electrical (schematic wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, wiring layouts, single-line diagrams etc.).
• Generate and maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) for electrical components, control panels, cables, and other related parts.
• Design electrical control panels: LTC panels, MCC panels, VFD/drive panels, power distribution, maybe switchgear.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant safety, regulatory, and industry standards (e.g. IEC, IS, local norms), especially for panels and wiring.
• Coordinate with other departments: mechanical, production/fabrication teams, procurement, QA to ensure design feasibility and assembly.
• Revise drawings and designs per feedback / changes during manufacturing or from clients.
• Support testing, installation, commissioning (or at least handover to production / field teams) of the electrical systems.
• Maintain proper documentation: design documents, revision history, version control of drawings, testing or quality check documents.
• Possibly involvement in costing / quoting (estimating component costs based on BOMs), ensuring designs are cost-efficient.

Qualifications / Skills Required

• Diploma / BE / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics, or similar discipline.
• Good proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical (2D and possibly 3D).
• Experience in designing electrical panels, wiring, schematics, layout design.
• Familiarity with electrical components: switches, relays, MCCBs, contactors, PLCs etc.
• Understanding of standard electrical practices: cable sizing, load calculation, grounding/earthing, safety norms.
• Ability to read and interpret client / project / site requirements, drawings, electrical / mechanical interfaces.
• Works well with cross-functional teams and communicate clearly: procurement, mechanical, production.
• Attention to detail and accuracy (to avoid errors in wiring, safety, compliance).
• Probably 1-3 years (or more) of experience in similar role, depending on level.

Desirable

• Exposure to PLC / VFD / automation control panels.
• Knowledge of industry-specific standards or regulations.
• Experience with other design tools (EPLAN, SolidWorks Electrical etc.) might be a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects / timelines.
