Design Engineer

Role & responsibilities

• Design and model electrical components and enclosures (e.g., Switch gear parts, Insulators, Housing) using 

  3D CAD software

   (Creo, Solid Works).
• Apply knowledge of 

  thermoplastic (Nylon, PC, ABS) and Thermoset (Epoxy, BMC, SMC)

   materials to select the optimal material for thermal, electrical, and mechanical requirements.
• Conduct 

  Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

   for structural, thermal, and mechanical stress evaluations to ensure product integrity.
• Create and maintain detailed 

  2D Technical drawings

  , specifications, and Bills of Material (BOMs) compliant with industry standards (

  GD&T

  ).
• Collaborate closely with manufacturing and tooling engineers to ensure designs are optimized for mass production using processes like 

  I

  njection Molding, Compression Molding, and Extrusion

  .
• Perform 

  Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA)

   reviews to reduce complexity, costs, and production time.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues during prototyping and initial production runs.
• Develop and oversee testing protocols for mechanical, thermal, and electrical performance validation.
• Ensure all designs meet relevant national and international safety and quality standards (

  UL, IEC, NEMA

  ).
• Document design changes, test results, and compliance reports accurately.
• Work with the 

  Sales and Marketing

   teams to translate customer needs and market requirements into design specifications.
• Engage with 

  Sourcing

   to evaluate and qualify new materials and suppliers.
• Participate in 

  root cause analysis

   of field failures and implement permanent corrective actions.

Preferred candidate profile

• Experience:

   Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in product design, specifically with 

  plastics/polymer materials

   and 

  molded electrical or Electro-Mechanical Components

  .

• Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in at least one major 

  3D CAD system

   (Creo, Solid Works, Inventor).
• Demonstrated experience with 

  Design for Injection Molding

   and/or 

  Design for Compression Molding

  .
• Knowledge of engineering plastics (thermoplastics) and composite materials (Thermosets).
• Familiarity with 

  GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing)
