Design Engineer

Designation : Design Engineer ,

Key Responsibilities :

Design & Development :

• Develop innovative designs that balance functionality, ergonomics, safety, cost, and aesthetics.
• Create detailed 

  3D models and 2D drawings in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other CAD software.

• Select suitable materials, fabrication methods, and welding processes considering both engineering and cost-effectiveness.
• Manage design documentation including BOMs,

  GD&T-

  compliant drawings, and multiple file formats (.dxf, e-drawing, step, etc.).
• Ensure timely updates and revision control of all drawings and data.

Process & Continuous Improvement:

• Apply Kaizen, ECR/ECN workflows, and Fishbone analysis to improve design processes and reduce errors.
• Conduct root cause analysis for design or production issues and implement corrective actions.
• Drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and continuous improvement initiatives.

Costing & Time Estimation:

• Perform basic costing of components and assemblies, including material, fabrication, and processing costs.
• Provide time estimates for design tasks, manufacturing, and assembly processes.
• Work with management and vendors to ensure designs are cost-efficient and achievable within timelines.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

• Participate in daily production and service review meetings, supporting troubleshooting and problem resolution.
• Conduct vendor visits for design discussions, feasibility checks, and quality assessments.
• Collaborate closely with management to align designs with business objectives, budgets, and market positioning.

Leadership & Initiative:

• Take ownership of projects with minimal supervision and deliver results on time.
• Mentor junior team members and share design best practices.
• Stay updated on industry design trends, materials, and cost-saving techniques.

Desired Skills & Competencies :

Technical Expertise :

• Strong background in mechanical design, sheet metal, fabrication, welding, and assemblies.
• Proficiency in 

  SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and other CAD platforms.

• Experience in BOMs, 

  GD&T,

   data/document management systems.
• Exposure to Kaizen, Lean principles, ECR/ECN processes, and root cause analysis.
• Basic ability to evaluate costing and timelines for designs.

Qualifications :

• Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 7–8 years of design engineering experience (preferably in access equipment, heavy machinery, or construction equipment).
• Demonstrated experience in design, costing, and operational support.
• Strong portfolio of designs showcasing both technical rigor and aesthetic thinking.
