Successful hire (Director / Deputy Director) will be responsible for the strategic direction of an organization’s programs, including their development, implementation, and evaluation.Their role involves a variety of duties, including, Program Planning, Program Goals, Program Evaluation, Stake Holder Management, Communication, Team Building & problem resolution.The Deputy Director - Programs will be responsible for planning, development, and implementation of programs under her/ him, as well as ensuring that programs are aligned with the organization’s mission and values.
Primary Responsibilities
- Developing and approving budgets, operations, and plans of programs, including identifying processes, deadlines, goals and milestones.
- Hiring, training, and supervising program managers and other senior team members, and resolving issues between program teams and other stakeholders internal as well as external. Responsible for, undertaking any course correction, expand the programme scope and geographies.
- Devises Monitoring & Evaluation strategies in conjunction with the M&E team to monitor performance and determine areas for improvement.
- Creates and nurtures effective communication within the team and organization, and reports status updates to leadership and or the executive team.
- Ensure that programs comply with all legislation and statutory requirements.
- Ensure effective and efficient program documentation and set up documentation systems and processes where required, closely monitor the same.
- Ensure effective and efficient program reporting systems are put in place in reference to all the stake holders especially donors, closely monitor the same.
- Ensure effective and efficient program data management and extraction systems and process are in place, liaison with the IT team for the same, closely monitor the same.
- Represents the organization at development sector events, donor events and other relevant public forums.
- Drives innovation and continuous improvement within programs.
Candidate Requirements
- Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., International Development, Public Administration, Business Administration, Social Sciences); an MBA is preferred.
- 12 to 15 years of progressive, relevant professional experience in program management, preferably within the NGO, development, or public sector.
- Designing, planning, executing, monitoring, and evaluating complex programs aligned with strategic organizational goals.
- Full project cycle management using tools such as Logical Framework Approach and Theory of Change.
- Managing, mentoring, and motivating multidisciplinary teams.
- Developing and managing budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation using financial software and advanced Excel.
- Building and sustaining partnerships with diverse stakeholders, including communities, donors, and partner organizations.
- Grant writing, fundraising, and comprehensive donor relations and stewardship.
- Implementing Monitoring & Evaluation frameworks (e.g., Results-Based Framework).
- Policy analysis, advocacy, and effective community engagement using participatory approaches.
