DBMigration Architect

Key Responsibilities

Planning & Strategy

• Lead migration strategy and planning activities for complex, large-scale environments.
• Analyze source and target systems, assess risks, and define migration scope and approach.
• Design and execute migration strategies such as

  Big Bang, Phased, or Hybrid

  migrations.
• Develop detailed migration roadmaps, cutover plans, rollback strategies, and risk mitigation plans.

• Architect target-state data models, schemas, and database structures.
• Design and develop robust ETL/ELT pipelines using

  Python, Java

  , or similar technologies.
• Create and govern data mapping, transformation rules, and validation frameworks.

• Lead the extraction, cleansing, transformation, and loading of large and complex datasets.
• Utilize cloud-native tools such as

  AWS DMS, Azure Migrate

  , and automation frameworks including

  Terraform

  .
• Ensure data integrity, security, and minimal downtime throughout migration execution.

• Define and oversee comprehensive migration testing and reconciliation strategies.
• Validate data accuracy, completeness, and performance in target environments.
• Diagnose and resolve complex migration and performance issues.

• Act as a technical leader and advisor to DBAs, architects, developers, and business stakeholders.
• Communicate migration progress, risks, and dependencies to senior leadership and clients.
• Establish migration standards, best practices, and documentation.

• Lead post-migration stabilization, performance tuning, and optimization efforts.
• Ensure seamless handover to operations and support teams.
• Provide guidance on long-term database optimization and modernization.

• Strong expertise in

  SQL and NoSQL databases

  (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc).
• Extensive experience with

  Cloud Platforms

  : AWS and/or Azure.
• Deep hands-on knowledge of

  ETL tools, data migration frameworks, and automation

  .
• Advanced scripting and programming skills in

  Python, Java

  , or equivalent.
• Strong background in

  Data Modeling, Schema Design, and Performance Tuning

  .

• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
• Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects and cross-functional teams.

• 10+ years of overall experience

  in database engineering, architecture, or data migration roles.
• Proven track record of delivering

  end-to-end database migration programs

  .
• Extensive experience handling

  large-scale, mission-critical datasets

  .
• Hands-on exposure to enterprise platforms such as

  SAP, Oracle, MongoDB

  , or similar ecosystems.
• Experience leading cloud or hybrid migration initiatives is highly preferred.
