DB2 Systems Programmer

Role & responsibilities

Manage DB2 ZPARM settings and optimize system parameters.Use tools like IBM Omegamon, CA Insight, and BMC Mainview for performance monitoring.Strong knowledge of IBM utilities (REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, UNLOAD).Troubleshoot DB2 system issues, diagnose performance bottlenecks.Coordinate with vendors for PMR ticket resolution and issue debugging.Support transactional environments like CICS and IMS with DB2 Required Skills and Experience

7+ Yrs experience in DB2 subsystem setup (standalone & data sharing) and ZPARM tuning.

Expertise in Monoplex, SYSPLEX, and data-sharing architecture.Strong knowledge of DB2 DRDA architecture, backup & recovery (image copy, FLASH, mirroring).Experience in REXX/CLIST, ISPF programming, and CICS/IMS-DB2 interface.Expertise in SMP/E, DB2 software migration (V12, V13), and maintenance.Familiarity with unsupported/new DB2 z/OS features, compilers, and debugging.Experience handling PMR tickets and DB2 security/health checks.Installation & maintenance of IBM tools (OMEGAMON, DB2 Admin, HPU).Experience with Broadcom (RC Migration, Fast Load/Unload) and BMC tools. 8+ years of professional experience in IMS and DB2 database administration.BMC COPE and IBM tools for IMS and DB2.Hands-on experience with IMS/DB2 performance monitoring and automation.Establishing policies and procedures pertaining to database management, DR, maintenance and utilization Strong knowledge of IMS/DB2 utilities, backup/recovery processes, and database tuning techniques.

Expertise in IMS Full Function, HALDB, Fast Path, DB2 for z/OS, and various IMS/DB2 utilities.

Preferred Skills and Experience,Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field.

Manage IMS database structures (VSAM, OSAM, HALDB, Fast Path, GSAM), DB2 storage, locking, and referential integrity.Disaster recovery planning, log archive management, DBRC utilities, and forward recovery.Experience with Tools: IBM DB2 V12+, IMS V15, IBM InfoSphere Data Replication (CDC), Query Monitor, SQL Performance Analyzer. Expertise in MQ for z/OS installation and upgrades (ShopzSeries, SMP/E).

Strong troubleshooting skills using MQ command line and monitoring tools.

Experience with MQ Explorer, Tivoli, Omegamon, SYSVIEW, BMC MainView, MQATTACH, ICC.

Knowledge of security configurations, workload management, and automation scripting.

Install, configure, and maintain WMQ and associated system software.

Preferred candidate profile

8+ years of professional experience in IMS and DB2 database administration.BMC COPE and IBM tools for IMS and DB2.Hands-on experience with IMS/DB2 performance monitoring and automation. MQ upgrade from one version to another version in z/os.Administration of various MQ objects in Mainframe MQ. Strong knowledge of IBM utilities (REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, UNLOAD).Expertise in DB2 traces, SMF, RMF, WLM, and performance reports.Tuning virtual storage (Buffer Pool, EDM Pool, thread storage).Experience with monitoring tools (IBM Omegamon, CA Insight, BMC Mainview).Experience with DB2 Connect, IBM Data Studio, and DB2 Cloning. SAP/DB2 & PeopleSoft/DB2 architecture knowledge, high availability solutions.
