Role Description/Responsibilities: The Client Tech Management SAP team provides support for Clients global SAP systems running on Db2 z/OS platform. As one of the team members of the TM-SAP/MF1 team with special focus on Db2, the candidate will: • Participate in projects for deploying mySAP/Netweaver applications in a winClients Z/OS Db2 environment. • Install, use and maintain Db2 software and supporting db2 utilities. • Build and maintain Db2 subsystems • Provide DB2 and SAP basis support as needed to meet service level agreements for our development and production instances of Db2. • Diagnose and tune performance issues • Participate in design, setup and testing of back-up, recover and DR solutions • Participate in root cause analysis of recurring problems • Create documentation for problem resolutions to be used by other support group members • Participate in weekly status reporting for issue identification and escalation. • Participate in on call rotation to provide 7 x 24 support • Continually look for improvement opportunities in the Db2 space and recommend / implement as appropriate Experience in db2 technology including: o DB2 Version 13.01.0002 [DB Release] o Distributed Data Facility, o DB2 Connect, o Data Sharing/Sysplex o Db2 Utilities (IBM or 3rd party) and monitoring tools • Basic Z/OS mainframe skills • Understanding of how Infrastructure relates across different technologies • Ability to participate in root cause analysis of technical issues. • Logical, creative, problem solving and human relation skills. You will be working as a member of the Mainframe Tech Services infrastructure support team. Our mission is to provide the IBM system Z infrastructure (hardware and software) required by the ZSolutions business unit R&D, Sales and Customer Support organizations. You will work in conjunction with the Mainframe Tech Services team members and with the various ZSolutions teams to define, configure, install, modify and make available the appropriate z/OS, z/VM and Linux on z hardware and software products to be used for their product development and testing purposes. In addition, you will be responsible for installing the software service, e.g. IBM RSU & PUT, provided by the manufacturers. Here is how, through this exciting role, YOU will contribute to BMC's and your own success: Install, test, implement, maintain, enhance, interface and support operating systems, subsystems, and infrastructure applications and/or associated facilities. Provisioning z/OS, z/VM and zLinux LPARs or virtual systems. Ongoing maintenance and support including review of vendor-supplied maintenance materials, for example IBM RSU & PUT, to insure installation of recommended levels of software/firmware service. Assist team with hardware technology selection and configuration. Insure interoperability of operating system and programs products from IBM and/or ISVs. Perform problem analysis and work with IBM to resolve problems on all supported subsystems. Communicate effectively with R&D users and management at all levels. Work with members of the Mainframe Tech Services support group to test operating system and program products to insure compatibility with vendor-supplied changes. Participate in vendor early ship/early support programs as needed. Participate in BMC beta/early ship/early support programs whenever possible and feasible. Implement new hardware and software technologies as required. Develops documentation and provides knowledge transfer to peers. Participating in project teams as subject matter expert, relating to the support of existing technologies and the selection and implementation of new technologies. Demonstrate teamwork support by expressing a collaborative attitude and sharing technical know-how. Support BMC disaster recovery/business continuity programs as directed. To ensure youre set up for success, you will bring the following skillset & experience: You have 7+ years experience as a systems programmer with knowledge of a current zSeries operating system z/OS. You have a minimum of five years of systems support background, including a working knowledge of procedures to apply IBM software service. You are expert with installation, configuration and maintenance processes. You are expert with IBM products and utilities; prefer experience with BMC utilities. You have thorough problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to work issues to resolution, and independent work habits are necessary requirements. You have ability to manage multiple, simultaneous tasks, to remain calm, cordial, and effective during the resolution of time critical system interruptions/difficulties/failures. You have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. You have working knowledge of z/OS systems administration, including USS, TSO, ISPF, SDSF, JES2/JES3, JCL, HCD, SMF, Sysplex, and WLM. Role & responsibilities 7+ Yrs experience in DB2 subsystem setup (standalone & data sharing) and ZPARM tuning. Expertise in Monoplex, SYSPLEX, and data-sharing architecture. Strong knowledge of DB2 DRDA architecture, backup & recovery (image copy, FLASH, mirroring). Experience in REXX/CLIST, ISPF programming, and CICS/IMS-DB2 interface. Expertise in SMP/E, DB2 software migration (V12, V13), and maintenance. Familiarity with unsupported/new DB2 z/OS features, compilers, and debugging. Experience handling PMR tickets and DB2 security/health checks. Installation & maintenance of IBM tools (OMEGAMON, DB2 Admin, HPU). Experience with Broadcom (RC Migration, Fast Load/Unload) and BMC tools. Manage DB2 ZPARM settings and optimize system parameters. Use tools like IBM Omegamon, CA Insight, and BMC Mainview for performance monitoring. Strong knowledge of IBM utilities (REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, UNLOAD). Troubleshoot DB2 system issues, diagnose performance bottlenecks. Coordinate with vendors for PMR ticket resolution and issue debugging. Support transactional environments like CICS and IMS with DB2 Preferred candidate profile Strong knowledge of IBM utilities (REORG, RUNSTATS, LOAD, UNLOAD). Expertise in DB2 traces, SMF, RMF, WLM, and performance reports. Tuning virtual storage (Buffer Pool, EDM Pool, thread storage). Experience with monitoring tools (IBM Omegamon, CA Insight, BMC Mainview). Experience with DB2 Connect, IBM Data Studio, and DB2 Cloning.
