Job Description

The DBA is responsible for installing, configuring, securing, and maintaining the organization's database systems to ensure optimal performance, security, and uptime.

Key Responsibilities

Monitor, tune, and optimize database performance; troubleshoot slow queries or bottlenecks
Manage database security: user roles, permissions, encryption, and auditing
Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures; regularly test restore processes
Collaborate with developers and IT teams to support data-related changes, migrations, and schema designs
Maintain database documentation, policies, and standards; support capacity planning
Provide technical support and training; be available for after-hours emergencies as needed

Qualifications

Bachelors in Computer Science, IT, or related field
25 years of experience in database administration
Proficiency in SQL and major DBMS platforms (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL/PostgreSQL)
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and collaboration skills
Preferred: DBA certifications (OCP, MCDBA), scripting/automation experience (Python, shell), cloud DB experience (RDS, Azure)
