Data Engineer

Design and implement automated data quality checks, validation rules, and exception handling processes.Collaborate with data engineers and analysts to understand data sources, data flow, and potential quality issues.Define data quality metrics, thresholds, and KPIs build dashboards or reports to monitor them.Develop tools or scripts to detect anomalies, missing data, duplicates, schema changes, and other quality issues.Conduct root cause analysis and drive resolution for data quality problems.Build and maintain data profiling tools to assess data completeness, consistency, timeliness, and accuracy.Work closely with data governance and compliance teams to enforce data standards and policies.Participate in end to end testing of data pipelines, migrations, and analytics products to ensure integrity.Document data quality processes, rules, and workflows in a structured and accessible way.

Required Qualifications

Technical SkillsStrong SQL skills and experience querying relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, Snowflake).Proficiency in Python or another scripting language for building validation tools and automation.Familiarity with data quality tools and frameworks (e.g., Great Expectations, Deequ, Soda, Monte Carlo, Atlan).Knowledge of ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline technologies.Experience working with cloud data platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure) and data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery, Redshift).Understanding of data modeling, data lineage, and metadata management.Soft SkillsHigh attention to detail and strong analytical/problem solving skills.Clear communication and documentation skills.Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams (engineering, analytics, business).Proactive and self-driven attitude toward improving data quality.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with data observability and monitoring platforms.Familiarity with data governance frameworks and compliance requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).Background in QA/testing or software engineering practices is a plus.Experience with BI/analytics tools like Looker, Tableau, or Power BI is a bonus.Education & ExperienceBachelor s or Master s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field.2 to 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data quality, data governance, or analytics engineering roles.
