Job Description

Role: Data Engineer

Experience: 5 Years

Location: Hyderabad

Timings: 2pm-11pm (WFO)

Key Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable
ETL/ELT pipelines
for ingesting and processing structured and unstructured retail data.
Work with
transactional, POS, inventory, and customer datasets
specific to the grocery retail domain.
Optimize data workflows and improve data quality, governance, and reliability.
Collaborate with business analysts, data scientists, and product teams to support reporting and analytical needs.
Ensure data availability and accuracy for
dashboards, BI tools, and advanced analytics
.
Implement best practices in data modeling, storage, and query performance optimization.
Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to data pipelines, storage, and processing in a timely manner.
Contribute to automation, monitoring, and alerting for data workflows.

Required Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science
, Information Technology, or related field
.
5 years of experience
as a Data Engineer or in a similar role.
Strong hands-on experience with:
SQL
and relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL).
Data pipeline tools
(Airflow, Apache NiFi, DBT, etc.).
Big data & cloud platforms
(AWS/GCP/Azure, Spark, Hadoop preferred).
Proven experience working with
retail grocery data (sales, inventory, supply chain, promotions, or loyalty programs)
.
Strong knowledge of
data modeling, warehousing, and BI concepts
.
Familiarity with reporting tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Looker) is a plus.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with
Python, PySpark, or Scala
for data engineering workflows.
Knowledge of
real-time data streaming
(Kafka, Kinesis, etc.).
Exposure to
machine learning data preparation
workflows is an advantage.
Understanding of
retail KPIs
(sales trends, stock turns, shrinkage, basket analysis).
