Description
Responsibilities: Participate in the design, development, and execution of data migration strategies from SQL Server to Snowflake. Build, maintain, and optimize ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Azure Data Factory, dbt, or custom scripts. Convert complex T-SQL logic and stored procedures into Snowflake-compatible SQL or ELT workflows. Ensure data quality, validation, and consistency throughout the migration process. Collaborate with data architects, analysts, and business teams to understand requirements and ensure a smooth transition. Monitor Snowflake performance, optimize queries, and manage warehouse resources effectively. Follow best practices in data security, governance, and compliance. Contribute to technical documentation, including process flows, data mappings, and operational runbooks. Programming experience with Python, PySpark, Shell scripting, and SQL is mandatory. Must Have Skills: 4+ years of experience in data engineering or similar IT roles. Practical, hands-on experience with Snowflake (at least 2+ year). Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including T-SQL and stored procedure development. Strong understanding of metadata-driven approaches and data governance principles. Experience in building and maintaining data pipelines and workflows in cloud environments (preferably Azure). Good understanding of data warehousing concepts, ETL/ELT, and dimensional modeling. Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries and optimizing performance. Experience with scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell is a plus. Familiarity with version control (e.g., Git) and CI/CD tools. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Good verbal and written communication skills. Good to Have: Experience with DBT, Azure Data Factory, or similar modern data tools. Snowflake cloud platform certifications. Exposure to data governance tools, data catalogs, or monitoring platforms. Prior experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.
