Job Description

As a Critical Care Medicine physician specializing in Emergency Room (ER) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) night shifts, you play a crucial role in our healthcare organization by ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to critically ill patients. Your dedication is key in managing patients in a fast-paced environment where split-second decisions can significantly impact patient outcomes. It is essential to possess excellent clinical skills, decision-making abilities, and resilience to effectively manage patients in both ER and ICU settings during night shifts. Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team, you will provide leadership and diagnostic expertise to assure timely and appropriate medical interventions for every patient, enhancing patient care and contributing to the broader objectives of the healthcare institution. - Provide comprehensive medical care to patients in the ER and ICU during night shifts. - Conduct thorough assessments and establish appropriate treatment plans. - Utilize advanced monitoring technologies to track patient conditions. - Manage acute and complex medical issues with efficiency and precision. - Coordinate with nursing and support staff for smooth unit operations. - Collaborate with specialists and consultants to optimize patient outcomes. - Perform necessary procedures such as intubation and central line placement. - Supervise and mentor junior medical staff and residents. - Document patient interactions and care in electronic medical records accurately. - Respond effectively to emergency situations, including code blue events. - Educate patients and their families regarding treatments and conditions. - Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and institutional protocols. - Participate in quality improvement initiatives and clinical research. - Stay abreast of advancements in critical care practices and guidelines. - Maintain a high standard of communication with the healthcare team and patients. - Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree. - Board certification in Critical Care Medicine or equivalent. - State medical licensure in good standing. - Completion of an accredited residency in Emergency Medicine or Internal Medicine. - Additional fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine preferred. - Previous experience in ICU and ER settings is highly desirable. - Strong understanding of pharmacology and medication management. - Proficient in advanced diagnostic and therapeutic techniques. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to handle high-stress situations effectively. - Commitment to continuing education and professional development. - Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team environment. - Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities. - Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems. - Strong analytical and critical thinking skills. - Compassionate approach to patient care and family interactions.
