Job Description

The Counsellor supports and guides youth throughout their training journey, ensuring they are well-prepared for employment and able to sustain jobs with confidence. This includes conducting structured group and individual counselling sessions, tracking progress, and providing continuous support in collaboration with centre teams and parents. Key Responsibilities • Conduct Orientation & Build Engagement: Welcome and orient new youth batches on Day 05; clearly explain program expectations and the importance of employment. Build trust and rapport to help youth feel comfortable, motivated, and confident to participate fully. • Facilitate Mandatory Counselling Sessions: Conduct a Group Interaction Session on Day 05 to set expectations and establish rapport. Facilitate a First Counselling Session on Day 10 (group) to assess communication, confidence, and responsibility. Conduct an Individual Counselling Session on Day 20 to evaluate each youth’s progress, readiness for jobs, and personal goals. Organize follow-up sessions as needed to address concerns or reinforce guidance for youth who need additional support. • Guide Youth on Job Market Readiness: Provide practical information about job sectors, salary expectations, relocation options, and career growth. Introduce and review tools like Know The Market to help youth develop realistic job expectations and make informed decisions. • Monitor Progress & Provide Reports: Track youth participation in training activities, LMS usage, and overall engagement. Use tools like SMART feedback to assess key skills such as communication and behaviour. Share timely progress reports and constructive feedback with Centre Changemakers and management. • Coordinate Parent Engagement: Attend and support parent meetings to ensure families are well-informed and supportive of their children’s job placements. • Support Placement Preparation: Assist with placement calls, interview readiness, and other career support activities. Address any barriers that may affect youth’s ability to sustain jobs after placement. Qualifications & Requirements • Education: Graduate or Postgraduate qualification in Psychology or Counselling. • Languages: Proficiency in English and at least one or more regional languages: Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, or Hindi. • Skills & Competencies: Strong counselling, communication, and facilitation skills. Empathetic, approachable, and able to motivate and build trust with youth. Well-organized with strong follow-up and reporting abilities. Familiarity with the job market and career development. Confident using online tools (Google Meet, LMS, Google Forms). Reporting To: Counselling Head Work Location: Unnati Head Office
