Cost Engineer

Role Overview: You will be responsible for producing cost estimates for components and assemblies within the Smiths portfolio using the relevant software system (currently aPriori). Additionally, you will contribute to benchmark market data used in the software system to ensure accuracy and relevance. Your role will involve working with buyers and external suppliers to obtain Supplier Cost Breakdown data and ensuring accuracy. Analyzing Cost Breakdown data against cost to identify price negotiation opportunities and design improvements to reduce cost/price will also be part of your responsibilities. You will support NPI projects to suggest manufacturing best practice and ensure cost-optimized designs are delivered to the supply chain. Facilitating Cost Reduction Workshops as required will also be a key duty.
