This is a global role and will support these activities across multiple geographies including N. America, Europe, India and APAC. Responsibilities:
- Manage cost card system and work with global pursuit team to complete customer RFI and RFQ bidding submissions. Includes product, process, and tooling costs to develop product pricing strategies.
- Prepare RFI/RFQ Packages for Suppliers and 3rd Party Vendors, Review proposals and assist in supplier selection
- End to End Costing Management; Global Costing, Costing reports, Post SoP Launch Cost Analysis to Ensure Targets Achieved (1/3/6 month follow up post SOP with the industrialization receiving site to verify cost targets vs actual status)
- Create preliminary estimates for Product Costs, Rates, and Work Stream Flows
- Identify areas of opportunity, optimization, and risk
- Support project team and program managers in customer negotiations during multiple program phases leading to serial production launch
- Screen, Negotiate, Select and Develop New Suppliers For battery passive fire protection specific projects
- Follow up activities and reports on cost trends and variations. Periodic data collection of process parameters within the plant serial manufacturing
- Needs to work closely with purchasing, operations and finance
- Plan in- territory and international travel up to 30% depending on business requirements and ROI
- Lead cross-functional cost review workshops with engineering, procurement, and finance to align on cost targets and trade-offs.
- Develop and maintain cost models for new technologies and materials, including fire protection innovations.
- Support sustainability initiatives by evaluating cost implications of eco-friendly materials and processes.
- Benchmark industry best practices in cost engineering and integrate learnings into internal processes.
- Collaborate with R&D teams to assess cost feasibility of new product concepts and prototypes.
Qualifications/Experience:
- University Degree, Engineering Designation both or in combination with costing and manufacturing experience
- Minimum 5 years in battery or automotive business, with measurable results
- Exposure to product development, production and delivery
- Working knowledge of markets such as automotive, electric vehicles, lithium-ion
- batteries, energy storage systems, battery and/or fire protection
- Must have a demonstrated history of costing management, strong negotiation ability along with a natural flair to work within teams, across business units and foster relationships
- Detail orientation in both proposal preparation, reporting, analytics, business and costing analysis
- Creative problem solver who brings solutions to the conversation and situation
- Well-developed communication and influencing skills
- Intermediate level of proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics, Microsoft BI, and Smartsheet tools are desired
- Experience working in cross-cultural, global teams and managing international supplier relationships.
- Familiarity with cost modeling software or ERP systems beyond Microsoft Dynamics (e.g., SAP, Oracle).
- Certification in Cost Engineering (e.g., AACE) or Lean Six Sigma is a plus.
- Strong understanding of supply chain economics, including logistics and tariff impacts.
- Ability to translate technical data into business insights for executive-level decision-making.
