Job Description

The Commis III – Continental is responsible for assisting in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of continental dishes under the guidance of senior chefs. This entry-level role focuses on learning, maintaining kitchen hygiene, and ensuring consistency in quality while supporting smooth kitchen operations. Key Responsibilities:Assist in the preparation of mise en place for the continental kitchen (soups, sauces, salads, breads, appetizers, mains, and desserts). Perform basic cooking tasks such as cutting, chopping, grilling, sautéing, roasting, baking, and frying under supervision. Follow recipes, portion control, and presentation standards as instructed. Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of workstations and equipment as per HACCP/food safety standards. Properly store raw materials and cooked food to avoid contamination. Support senior chefs during service by supplying ingredients, plating, and garnishing. Monitor inventory levels of assigned section and report shortages to seniors. Ensure adherence to hotel/restaurant SOPs and safety guidelines. Continuously learn new techniques and recipes from senior team members. Requirements:Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a trainee or kitchen helper in a hotel/restaurant (preferred, but freshers with culinary training may apply). Diploma/Certificate in Culinary Arts or Hotel Management (preferred). Basic knowledge of continental cuisine (soups, sauces, grills, pastas, baked items, etc.). Good knife skills and understanding of basic cooking methods. Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment. Positive attitude, team player, and willingness to learn. Flexibility to work in shifts, weekends, and holidays.
