Job Title: Construction Site Supervisor Location: Andheri to Bandra - Mumbai, Maharashtra, India Job Description: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Site Supervisor to join our dynamic construction team in Mumbai. The ideal candidate will have 2–5 years of hands-on experience in managing residential and commercial construction projects, with a strong foundation in interpreting civil drawings and overseeing on-site execution. They should demonstrate expertise in reading civil drawings and diagrams, supervising structural and finishing work, and ensuring timely completion of projects. 1. Key Responsibilities: Overseeing Construction Activities: Ensure that all construction activities are carried out according to project specifications, building codes, and safety regulations. Monitor the quality of workmanship and materials being used. Managing Site Operations: Supervise the construction team (laborers, subcontractors, and contractors) to ensure that tasks are completed on time. This includes delegating duties, organizing work schedules, and ensuring efficient use of resources. Ensuring Health and Safety Compliance: Enforce site safety protocols, conduct regular safety audits, and make sure the team adheres to OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) guidelines or relevant local safety laws. This includes ensuring workers are using proper personal protective equipment (PPE). Quality Control: Inspect the work at various stages of the project to ensure that construction is of the highest quality and complies with the project's specifications. Conduct regular checks on materials to verify they meet quality standards. Managing Supplies and Materials: Coordinate the delivery of materials, ensure there is no wastage, and manage inventory on site. Oversee the procurement process to avoid delays. Project Scheduling and Coordination: Maintain a detailed schedule for each project and coordinate with other teams (architects, engineers, suppliers) to ensure that the project progresses according to the timeline. Client and Stakeholder Communication: Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, architects, and other stakeholders regarding construction progress. Provide regular updates and discuss any issues or changes. Budget Management: Assist in managing project budgets by ensuring that work is completed on time and within the financial constraints. This involves keeping track of expenses, minimizing wastage, and optimizing labor costs. Problem Solving: Quickly address any on-site issues or delays, such as disputes between workers, equipment breakdowns, or supply shortages, and come up with solutions to keep the project moving forward. 2. Skills Required: Leadership and Team Management: Strong leadership skills to manage and motivate a diverse team, ensuring everyone is working towards the same goal. Project Management: Ability to oversee the project from start to finish, ensuring all phases of construction are progressing as scheduled. Attention to Detail: Precision in monitoring quality and making sure all aspects of construction align with blueprints and project requirements. Problem-Solving: Ability to think on your feet and solve issues promptly as they arise. Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication for reporting to senior management, interacting with clients, and liaising with contractors and subcontractors. Knowledge of Building Codes and Regulations: Familiarity with local building codes, zoning laws, and regulations to ensure compliance during construction. Technical Knowledge: Understanding of construction methods, equipment, and materials is essential to supervise work effectively and solve technical problems that may arise 3. Work Environment: On-site Role: The site supervisor is typically stationed on the construction site throughout the workday. They are responsible for overseeing both indoor and outdoor activities, including the coordination of work in different weather conditions. Working Hours: Site supervisors often work long hours, sometimes including weekends and evenings, especially if there are tight project deadlines. Physical Demands: The job can be physically demanding. Supervisors may need to walk around the construction site, climb ladders, and inspect hard-to-reach areas. Being physically fit is an advantage in this role. 4. Experience: Most site supervisors have several years of experience in the construction industry, often starting as laborers, tradespeople, or foremen before progressing to a supervisory position. Experience in managing a crew and handling complex projects is highly valuable. A Site Supervisor is a key person for ensuring that construction projects run smoothly, safely, and on time.
