Job Description

As a Safety & Compliance Officer at our growing transportation team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our operations meet and exceed Canadian and U.S. regulatory requirements while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will be self-driven, eager to learn, and adept at managing safety and compliance functions in a fast-paced, cross-border trucking environment. Key Responsibilities: - Assist in developing and implementing safety policies and procedures in compliance with Canadian (CSA, Transport Canada, OH&S) and U.S. (FMCSA, DOT) regulations. - Support the review and enhancement of safety programs and internal policies. - Help maintain compliance with drug and alcohol programs and related requirements. - Monitor adherence to Hours of Service (HOS), vehicle maintenance, and driver qualification requirements. - Assist in managing IFTA, IRP, permits, and licensing in both Canada and the U.S. - Support maintenance teams in ensuring compliance with scheduled inspections and repairs. - Maintain accurate driver and equipment files. - Assist in new driver onboarding, including safety training and documentation setup. - Track and monitor CVOR, FMCSA, and internal safety performance records. - Coordinate and support ongoing training sessions for drivers and staff on safety procedures, compliance regulations, and emergency response. - Assist in preparing educational materials and updates for the team. - Participate in accident or safety violation investigations, document findings, and support corrective action processes. - Assist in preparing reports for internal management and external agencies. - Support internal audits of safety records, logs, and files to ensure compliance and readiness. - Maintain digital and physical records to meet audit requirements and regulatory needs. Qualifications: - Previous experience in trucking safety/compliance is an asset, but training will be provided. - Basic understanding or willingness to learn Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations. - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. - Good communication skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Proficiency in using spreadsheets, basic compliance software, and email tools.
