DBT/Wellcome Trust India Alliance, Hyderabad, invites applications from suitably qualified, early to mid-career individuals for the position of Communications & Engagement Officer. The role requires full-time engagement and is ideal for those actively progressing in their professional careers.The Communications and Engagement Officer will lead and execute communication and stakeholder-engagement activities to enhance the visibility, reach, and impact of the India Alliances programmes. Working independently with minimal supervision, the officer will manage key external and internal communication channels, support strategic outreach initiatives, and ensure consistent, high-quality messaging aligned with organizational goals.A combination of attention to detail, consistency, time management, the ability to handle large workloads, manage multiple projects and delivery under strict and short deadlines are important requirements for this role. Individuals must be able to work collaboratively within teams and across verticals.
Responsibilities
The incumbent will work closely with the CEO and Manager Communications & Engagement, to develop content to promote visibility of the organization to external and internal audiences. The responsibilities include the following:
- Working closely with the leadership to enhance the visibility and impact of the organisation and ensure that communication and engagement efforts align with broader organizational goals.
- Develop, implement, and manage communication plans, including digital, print, and media outreach.
- Maintain and update website content, social media platforms and evaluating outcomes and impact.
- Generation of consolidated reports for funders and periodic reports.
- Liaise and coordinate with researchers/stakeholders to identify and communicate research developments in a way that is accessible and engaging to the public.
- Ensuring that all communication materials are accurate, well-written, and conform to the organizations branding guidelines.
- Document and prepare reports on activities such conferences, workshops, and talks, using photo, video, text, and other multimedia.
- Assist with organisation of India Alliance events/meetings.
Duration
The appointment will be in accordance with DBT/WT India Alliance rules and regulations. The position carries a fixed-term contract of up to five years from the date of joining, or until 1 April 2031, whichever is earlier, and includes a probation period of 36 months, depending on prior experience. Ongoing appointment within the five-year term is dependent on satisfactory outcomes of annual performance reviews.
Money
The consolidated monthly remuneration is between 1.301.50 Lakh (Accident and Medical Insurance is provided as additional benefit), based on qualifications and experience, as determined at the time of selection.
Qualification
- Masters/Post Graduate diploma in Journalism or Mass Communication/Science Communication OR Masters in Life Science/Biological Sciences/similar areas.
Experience
- Minimum of 2 years experience in communications in a public, charitable, or educational institution of repute.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Demonstrable experience in handling of web-based management systems in a professional context.
- Familiarity with relevant information technology, including social media and website content management.
- Experience in communicating in the area of Biomedical Sciences, preferably in a public, charitable, or educational institution.
Desirable:
- Experience with preparation of reports for stakeholders.
- Ability to develop innovative and creative communication strategies based on latest trends.
- Experience in effective engagement with beneficiaries, media, and stakeholders.
- Understanding of the science, research and policy ecosystem in India, and the larger international context.
