Civil Engineer

Role & responsibilities

As a Civil Engineer, you will be responsible for planning, designing, and overseeing construction and maintenance projects such as roads, bridges, buildings, and water supply systems. You will work on a variety of projects, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of safety and quality.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Design:

• Develop and review engineering plans, specifications, and designs for civil engineering projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies and site assessments to determine project requirements and constraints.
• Prepare detailed project proposals, including cost estimates, timelines, and resource allocation.

Construction Management:

• Oversee construction activities to ensure compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and quality control procedures.
• Collaborate with contractors, architects, and other stakeholders to resolve design and construction issues.
• Monitor project progress, prepare reports, and adjust plans as needed to address any deviations from the original design.

Technical Analysis and Problem-Solving:

• Perform structural, hydraulic, and geotechnical analysis to ensure the stability and functionality of designs.
• Utilize engineering software and tools to model and analyze project components.
• Address and resolve engineering challenges that arise during project implementation.

Regulatory Compliance and Documentation:

• Ensure that all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations and standards.
• Prepare and submit necessary documentation for permits and approvals.
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of project activities, changes, and communications.

Client and Stakeholder Communication:

• Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members to provide updates and address concerns.
• Participate in meetings, presentations, and discussions to represent engineering interests and provide expert advice.

Health, Safety, and Environmental Considerations:

• Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
• Address environmental impacts of engineering projects and incorporate sustainable practices where possible.

Qualifications:

• Education:

  Diploma or BE

• Experience:

  2 to 10 years of experience in civil engineering, with a proven track record in project management and design.

• Skills:

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Knowledge of relevant regulations, codes, and standards.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to work on-site and perform field inspections in various weather conditions.

Working Conditions:

• Office environment with occasional site visits.
