Civil Engineer

Job Description

Position:

1. Job Purpose

safe operations, statutory compliance, timely project completion, and long-term structural integrity

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Civil Construction & Projects

• Execute new civil construction works including factory sheds, foundations, roads, drains, and utilities.
  
• Supervise construction of

  heavy machine foundations

  for induction furnaces, molding lines, cranes, and pollution control equipment.
• Prepare BOQ, estimates, drawings, and technical specifications.
  
• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and internal departments for project execution.
  

B. Maintenance of Civil Infrastructure

• Plan and carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance of:
  
• Buildings, sheds, flooring, pits, trenches
  
• Internal roads, storm water drains, culverts
  
• Attend emergency civil issues affecting production or safety.
  
• Monitor condition of foundry floors exposed to heat, vibration, and heavy loads.
  

C. Structural Safety & Compliance

• Ensure structural stability of buildings and foundations.
  
• Maintain records of drawings, stability certificates, and completion documents.
  
• Support compliance with:
  
• Factories Act
  
• Fire safety norms
  
• Pollution Control Board requirements
  

D. Safety & EHS Coordination

• Ensure safe execution of civil works including excavation and height work.
  
• Coordinate with Safety Officer for permit-to-work, barricading, and PPE compliance.
  
• Ensure contractors follow plant safety rules.
  

E. Contractor & Cost Control

• Supervise contractors and vendors for quality, safety, and timelines.
  
• Verify measurements and certify contractor bills.
  
• Control civil maintenance and project costs within budget.
  

F. Drainage & Utilities

• Maintain storm water drainage, industrial drains, and sumps.
  
• Support rainwater harvesting and waste management infrastructure.
  
• Coordinate with EHS for environmental civil requirements.
  

G. Expansion & Layout Support

• Assist in plant expansion, layout planning, and space optimization.
  
• Support installation of new equipment from civil engineering perspective.
  

3. Authority & Accountability

• Authority to supervise civil contractors and stop unsafe work.
  
• Responsible for quality, safety, and timely completion of civil works.
  
• Accountable for upkeep of plant civil assets.
  

4. Educational Qualification

• Dilpoma In civil Engineering (DCE) or B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering

5. Experience

• 47 years experience in

  industrial / manufacturing / foundry environment

• Experience in heavy machine foundations and industrial civil works preferred
  

6. Skills & Competencies

• Knowledge of RCC, foundations, and industrial flooring
  
• Familiarity with IS codes and statutory requirements
  
• Contractor management and cost control
  
• Coordination with production, maintenance, and safety teams
  
• Good communication and documentation skills

8. Working Conditions
