Chief Medical Officer

Role Overview: You are being offered a founding team role as a Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Pawzz Foundation, an animal welfare organization transitioning into a tech-enabled social impact platform for Animals. This role is based in Gurugram with the flexibility of working partly from home. Please note that this is an equity-only position at the early, pre-revenue stage of the organization. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the veterinary and medical strategy for both the platform and on-ground initiatives - Establish and standardize medical protocols, SOPs, and quality benchmarks for clinics, partners, and tele-consults - Provide guidance on product features related to medical workflows such as triage, EMRs, follow-ups, sterilization bookings, etc. - Supervise the medical aspects of rescue cases, surgeries, and sterilization drives either directly or through partner vets - Develop and mentor a network of vets, para-vets, shelters, and diagnostic partners - Ensure all practices align with animal welfare ethics and regulatory norms Qualifications: - Mandatory requirement of a Veterinary degree (BVSc & AH or equivalent) - Strong clinical experience in small animal practice, with exposure to surgery, emergency, and/or shelter medicine being advantageous - Experience in animal welfare, shelters, or NGO work is highly beneficial - Comfort with technology, teleconsults, and EMR-style workflows - Strong strategic thinking ability to balance clinical quality, scale, and affordability - Excellent communication and leadership skills; willingness to collaborate closely with founders, product, and operations teams Additional Details: Pawzz Foundation is dedicated to various animal welfare activities such as feeding drives, medical treatment, rescues, temporary shelter, and sterilization programs for stray animals. In addition to these on-ground efforts, the organization is developing a platform to facilitate access to affordable vet care, tele-consultations, surgery bookings, sterilization camps, and medical records for NGOs, rescuers, and low-income pet parents.
