About The Opportunity
Opportunity in the Healthcare & Pharmaceutical Retail sector serving patients and customers in Sambalpur, Odisha. We operate a customer-facing community pharmacy (retail chemist) focused on safe medication dispensing, OTC advice, and excellent local patient care. This on-site role centers on frontline pharmacy operations that ensure regulatory compliance, accurate dispensing, and high-quality customer service.
Primary Title (standardized): Retail Pharmacist / Registered Chemist (Shop Staff)
Role & Responsibilities
- Accurately receive and dispense prescription medicines and OTC products, ensuring correct dosing, labeling, and patient instructions.
- Provide clear, empathetic medication counselling to customers—explain indications, side effects, interactions, and adherence tips in local language(s).
- Maintain inventory: stock checks, reorder alerts, expiry monitoring, and proper storage (including cold-chain items).
- Ensure regulatory compliance: maintain prescription records, follow Schedule H/H1 rules, verify prescriptions and manage controlled/schedule drugs per law.
- Operate point-of-sale billing, process insurance or scheme payments when applicable, and keep accurate daily cash/register records.
- Support store housekeeping and customer experience—maintain cleanliness, proper shelving, product displays, and timely restocking.
Skills & Qualifications
Must-Have
- D.Pharm or B.Pharm with current registration from the State Pharmacy Council / Registered Pharmacist license as required by law.
- Minimum 1 year experience in a retail pharmacy or community chemist shop; hands-on experience dispensing prescriptions.
- Strong knowledge of drug categories, common therapeutic indications, drug interactions, OTC medications and Indian drug regulations (Schedule H/H1).
- Good communication skills in Odia and Hindi (English desirable) for clear patient counselling and teamwork.
- Basic computer literacy for billing, inventory systems, and digital record-keeping.
Preferred
- Experience using pharmacy POS or inventory management software and familiarity with cold-chain storage for vaccines/therapeutics.
- Prior work in Sambalpur or similar semi-urban/rural markets and comfort with high customer contact roles.
