Job Description

Job Summary:

The Charge Entry Specialist is responsible for accurately entering patient, provider, and insurance information into the billing system, ensuring that all charges are coded correctly and comply with payer and regulatory requirements. This role plays a key part in maintaining billing accuracy, minimizing claim denials, and supporting the revenue cycle process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accurately and efficiently enter charges into the billing software based on clinical documentation and coding guidelines.
  • Review and verify patient demographics, CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and modifiers for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure that all required information (insurance details, provider, date of service, authorization, etc.) is captured before charge submission.
  • Identify and correct discrepancies in documentation, coding, or billing data.
  • Collaborate with coding, AR, and billing teams to resolve missing or unclear information.
  • Maintain established productivity and accuracy benchmarks (e.g., ≥ 98% accuracy rate).
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and company data security standards.
  • Generate, review, and maintain charge entry reports as needed.
  • Participate in audits and quality improvement initiatives related to charge entry.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferred) or equivalent experience in healthcare administration, medical billing, or a related field.
  • 2–3 years of hands-on experience in charge entry for US medical billing (experience in specialties such as Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Surgery preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS, and Modifiers.
  • Familiarity with billing and EMR systems such as eClinicalWorks, Kareo, Athenahealth, AdvancedMD, or NextGen.
  • Understanding of EOBs, claims workflow, and payer billing requirements.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Excellent analytical and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹200,000.00 - ₹300,000.00 per year
