Category Manager

Category Manager in a uPVC windows and doors company plays a strategic role in owning the product categorys performance .

Category Strategy & Planning

• Develop and execute a growth strategy for the uPVC category (windows, doors, profiles).

• Analyze market trends, customer preferences, and competitor moves to identify category opportunities and risks.

• Define target customer segments, geographies, and applications (residential, commercial, institutional).

Portfolio Management

• Curate and optimize the product portfolio: window/door styles, color finishes, hardware, glazing options.

• Recommend new product development (NPD) or customizations based on market needs.

• Phase out underperforming SKUs and push high-margin or fast-moving ones.

Pricing & Positioning

• Define category-level pricing strategy based on cost, value proposition, and competitor benchmarking.

• Monitor and manage margin performance and pricing discipline across channels.

Sales Enablement & Training

• Develop product training content and tools for sales and channel teams.

• Support the sales team with USP communication, technical comparisons, and use-case solutions.

• Collaborate with regional teams to drive localized campaigns or seasonal promotions

Channel & Vendor Management

• Coordinate with dealers, fabricators, and channel partners to ensure product availability and visibility.

• Drive channel-specific assortments and incentive schemes.

• Liaise with procurement, extrusion units, and hardware vendors for supply alignment

Marketing & Demand Generation

• Work with marketing teams on campaigns, brochures, exhibitions, and digital content.

• Ensure brand and product visibility in showrooms and through architects/specifiers.

• Track and improve lead conversion rates linked to the category.

Performance Tracking & Reporting

• Regularly track category sales, margins, growth, and market share.

• Prepare MIS dashboards and business reviews for leadership.

• Suggest interventions to improve performance based on analytics.

Cross-functional Coordination

• Work closely with R&D, production, finance, and logistics for smooth category execution

• Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising on quality
