Job Description

You will be the

Carbon Sustainability Subject Matter Expert

(SME) for ANZ MC&M accountable for:
  • developing and delivering sustainability plans in support of bp’s sustainability strategy.
  • delivering carbon and environmental reports to meet both internal and external sustainability reporting obligations.

Shift Time –

5 AM to 2.00 PM IST

Responsibilities-

  • Engage with the business to collect, coordinate and analyse sustainability data (including energy, waste, and water data), and perform quality control on the data.
  • Prepare carbon and environmental reports to contribute to global sustainability reporting and to meet our regulatory requirements. This includes Australian NGERS and newly introduced climate related financial disclosures.
  • Lead the annual Sustainability Plan development for the business to produce an agreed and business endorsed plan.
  • Own and look after environmental and sustainability related processes and procedures within ANZ.
  • Network with global bp carbon and environment teams to ensure alignment on implementation of bp’ sustainability aims within ANZ.
  • Keep abreast of relevant technology and sustainability developments and develop business case(s) for investment consideration.
  • Understand relevant legislation, keep up to date with any applicable changes, and assist the business to comply.
  • Provide sustainability advice, coaching and support.

Experience, Job Requirements & Qualifications

  • A university degree (bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in engineering, sustainability, environmental science or related field.
  • Strong analytical skills and mathematical skills, with confident command of Excel and Power BI.
  • Proven track record to organise, analyse and draw insights from complex data sets.
  • Strong attention to detail, appreciation for structure, ability to be methodical and systematic in prioritising data.
  • Ability to positively engage with a wide range of collaborators across time zones to collect quality data in a timely manner.
  • Knowledge of the energy transition and decarbonisation pathways.
  • Determined and passionate to support bp’s net zero agenda and lead change in the energy transition.
  • Ability to communicate effectively to both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand broader strategic context and relevance to business activities.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to prioritize workloads and drive for continuous improvement.
  • Experience working with carbon accounting applications and systems
  • Demonstrated experience in collecting, preparing and reporting carbon and environmental data.
  • Demonstrated ability to practically interpret legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience developing and communicating fact-based business cases (articulating financial & non-financial risks and opportunities).

In this role, you will work in a small team of environmental and sustainability SME’s in ANZ MC&M. You will also network with global bp carbon and environment SME’s, the ANZ HSE&C leadership team, and a diverse range of business stakeholders.
