Job Title: Restaurant CaptainAbout the RoleThe Restaurant Captain is responsible for supervising the dining area, ensuring excellent guest service, maintaining service standards, and coordinating with staff to deliver a smooth and memorable dining experience. The Captain acts as the link between guests, service staff, and the kitchen. Key ResponsibilitiesGuest Service & ExperienceGreet and welcome guests, escort them to tables, and ensure comfort. Take orders accurately and ensure timely food and beverage service. Handle special requests, dietary needs, and guest complaints professionally. Maintain a high standard of hospitality and personalized service. Floor SupervisionOversee daily restaurant operations during the shift. Ensure all tables, service stations, and dining areas are clean and well-presented. Coordinate service flow between kitchen and service team. Monitor table turnover, seating arrangements, and reservation management. Team CoordinationAssign tasks to servers, stewards, and support staff. Train and guide team members on service etiquette, upselling, and guest handling. Conduct briefing sessions before shift to communicate menu updates, specials, and SOPs. Menu Knowledge & UpsellingMaintain complete knowledge of the menu, ingredients, portion sizes, and preparation styles. Promote daily specials and upsell dishes and beverages. Assist guests with recommendations based on their preferences. Quality & ComplianceEnsure adherence to restaurant policies, hygiene standards, and safety guidelines. Perform regular checks on service equipment, cutlery, serving trays, and table settings. Work closely with kitchen and bar teams to maintain accuracy in orders. Requirements2–5+ years of experience in a hospitality/service role. Prior experience as a Captain/Head Waiter in a restaurant or hotel is preferred. Strong communication, leadership, and guest-handling skills. Knowledge of Indian, South Indian, and Kerala cuisine is an advantage (can customize for Kerala Café). Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage peak hours efficiently.
