Business Journalist

Job Summary:

We are seeking a sharp, analytical, and curious Business Journalist to cover developments in finance, markets, industry trends, startups, government policies, and economic affairs. The ideal candidate has a passion for storytelling, a nose for news, and the ability to translate complex financial information into clear and engaging articles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research, report, and write accurate and insightful articles on business, finance, and economic topics.
• Conduct interviews with industry experts, CEOs, economists, and government officials.
• Track and analyze financial markets, company performances, startup ecosystems, and regulatory changes.
• Break news and provide in-depth features, explainers, and trend analyses.
• Work closely with editors, photographers, and designers to produce compelling multimedia content.
• Stay up to date with breaking news and industry developments locally and globally.
• Use data tools, public records, and financial reports to inform stories.
• Build and maintain a strong network of sources in the business community.
• Adhere to journalistic ethics, accuracy standards, and tight deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Business, Economics, or a related field.
• 2–5 years of experience in journalism, preferably with a focus on business or finance.
• Excellent writing, research, and editing skills.
• Strong understanding of financial concepts, markets, and economic indicators.
• Familiarity with tools like Bloomberg, Reuters, and Excel.
• Ability to simplify complex business issues for a broad audience.
• Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and able to work independently or in a team.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience covering sectors like startups, fintech, real estate, energy, or policy.
• Multimedia or digital journalism experience (podcasts, video scripts, data visualizations).
• SEO and social media knowledge for optimizing content reach.
