Job Description

Business Development Manager (BDM C&I Solar)

The Business Development Manager (BDM C&I Solar) will be responsible for generating, managing, and converting high-value commercial & industrial solar project opportunities. The role focuses on identifying potential clients, developing strong relationships, preparing techno-commercial proposals, and closing deals for rooftop and ground-mount solar projects (50 kW to multi-MW scale).

Key Responsibilities

1. Business Development & Lead Generation / Market Expansion

  • Identify and target commercial & industrial clients such as factories, warehouses, cold storage, malls, corporate offices, institutions, etc.
  • Build a strong pipeline of qualified leads through field visits, networking, references, and digital channels.
  • Conduct market research to understand industry trends, competitor offerings, and pricing.

2. Client Engagement & Sales

  • Meet with CEOs, plant heads, purchase teams, and facility managers for project discussions.
  • Understand client energy consumption, tariff structure, and technical requirements.
  • Present solar solutions, case studies, and financial benefits of adopting solar.
  • Provide accurate sizing, feasibility, and ROI/Payback analysis.

3. Proposal & Negotiation

  • Prepare and present techno-commercial proposals (CAPEX/OPEX/RESCO models).
  • Coordinate with engineering team for site assessment, design, and costing.
  • Lead commercial negotiations and close deals within expected timelines.

4. Project Coordination

  • Coordinate with operations and engineering teams during project execution.
  • Ensure smooth documentation for approvals, agreements, PPA, and compliance.
  • Maintain strong customer relationships for future cross-selling & referrals.

5. Sales Reporting & MIS

  • Maintain CRM, update pipeline status, and track conversions.
  • Prepare weekly/monthly sales reports and sales forecasts.
  • Achieve assigned sales targets and profitability goals.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of

    Solar Rooftop & Ground-Mount C&I Projects

  • Understanding of

    DISCOM approvals

    , net-metering, open-access, RESCO, and EPC models
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
  • Ability to analyse energy bills, consumption patterns, and financial modelling
  • Self-driven, target-oriented, and strong relationship-building skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office, CRM tools, basic design tools (preferred)

Qualification

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering / Business Management (MBA preferred)
  • 2–5+ years of experience in solar rooftop or energy solutions sales.
  • Experience in solar industry is

    mandatory

    for senior roles

Salary Range

  • As per industry standards + Attractive Incentives (based on project size and margins)
