Position
Business Development Manager Chemical Sales & Freight Forwarding
Location: Navi Mumbai (CBD Belapur office)
Experience: 8 15 years in chemical logistics / freight forwarding sales.
Key Responsibilities
Lead business development efforts for chemical cargo vertical (e.g., bitumen, industrial chemicals, hazardous & nonhaz containers, ISO tank shipments).
Develop and execute sales strategies for FCL/LCL, air, tank container, and bulk shipments tailored for chemical clients.
Source new customers in petrochemical, coatings, pharma, and allied industries; maintain and grow existing accounts.
Coordinate prefixture/postfixture processes: rate negotiation, documentation, route planning, cargo safety protocols.
Collaborate with internal teams—operations, CHA, warehousing, customer support—to ensure seamless service.
Monitor market trends (ports, regulatory changes, pricing) and analyze competitor offerings.
Track and exceed monthly/quarterly targets; prepare revenue forecasts and pipeline reports.
Represent company at industry events, conferences (e.g., chemical logistics expos).
Mentor junior BDMs; participate in talent and resource planning.
Core Skills & Expertise
Chemical logistics expertise: Strong understanding of handling hazardous/nonhazardous chemicals, ISO tank operations, packaging, and transport safety.
Sales acumen: Proven history developing business in project cargo and chemical freight forwarding, with a consultative and relationshipbuilding approach.
Technical knowledge: Familiarity with MSDS, GHS/REACH labeling, packaging, and regulatory compliance.
Commercial negotiation: Skilled in contract pricing, rate development, and margin optimization.
Documentation proficiency: Expert in shipping docs, Incoterms, customs clearance (CHA operations), and hazardous cargo paperwork.
Collaboration & leadership: Experience managing crossfunctional teams and mentoring sales staff.
Data orientation: Strong in sales pipeline management, CRM (e.g., Salesforce), forecasting.
Communication: Fluent English (and ideally Marathi/Hindi), with polished presentation and clientfacing interpersonal skills.
Education & Qualifications:-
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Logistics, Chemical Engineering.
8–15 years in freight forwarding or logistics sales, including minimum 3 years focusing on chemicals or hazardous cargo verticals.
Prior experience with ISO tanks, tank container shipments, bulk & breakbulk cargo is highly desirable.
